We finally had our opportunity to join the ranks of people who have welcomed back cruising by sailing from October 15th through October 22nd on Princess Cruises #EnchantedPrincess. After having a transatlantic cruise, a New England/Canada cruise tour, and a Canada/Greenland cruise cancelled during the pandemic, we decided that it was time to treat ourselves. Not only did we book this cruise over a year out, but we also intentionally booked a ship we'd yet to sail and an itinerary that we'd already sailed. This way we felt we could focus more on enjoying the ship and it wouldn't be as much an issue for us if ports were missed or otherwise limited due to COVID issues.
Enchanted Princess was built and expected to make her debut with paying passengers just as the pandemic caused its first "pause" in cruising. Due to this, we were considered as sailing in the ship's inaugural year even though chronologically it was two years later. Enchanted Princess is in the Royal Class of Princess ships that also include Royal Princess, Regal Princess, Majestic Princess, Sky Princess, and the newest addition Discovery Princess.
However, only the latter three starting with the Sky Princess have an extra full suite category known as the Sky Suite. These are two cabins on each ship that have two full separate bedrooms, two full separate bathrooms (one with a shower stall and separate tub while the other has only a shower stall), and a wrap around balcony. As a result of their size, they are notably more expensive than even the next best suite on board but they also come with a few extra perks in addition to Princess' perks offered to every full suite passenger. Pertaining to Enchanted Princess, Suite S309 is handicap accessible while our cabin, Suite 310 was not aside from grab bars in the shower and for pulling oneself out of the tub.
To compare the difference between Sky Suite perks and every other suite cabin on Princess' perks, check out these two pages: Sky Suite Perks Princess' Suite Perks I also encourage any cruiser thinking of booking the Sky Suite to check out YouTube for video walkthroughs. A great read from first hand experience that helped me pre-cruise was compiled by Laura at Cruise Lifestyle.
Disclaimer: We were given, via a Princess Cruises offer to everyone each time the pandemic cancelled a booked cruise, an extra portion of our fare as a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) in addition to the full amount of money paid as FCC. The fact that we pooled all three cruises' in regular suite cabins worth of credits into one single cruise meant that almost all of the fare, insurance, and EZ-Air charges for booking this seven day cruise in a Sky Suite was covered by FCC. Other than the extra FCC everyone received offsetting the cost, this cabin and cruise were entirely paid for by us. We did experience some unexpected extras on board provided as gifts by Princess but this was not a gifted or promotional cruise offer. All opinions, photos, and commentary provided from this trip is of my own impressions.
