Oasis of the Seas - Day 7 - Labadee (Part 2)

I'd also like to give a shout out to the cabin with this door decoration. It became a ritual each time we walked down the hall to see the latest message on #36 and to say hello to the unicorn:

Back in our cabin we discovered a food delivery had come in our absence of another fruit plate, a canape plate which was smelly and dripping from the shrimp and salmon, a plate of chocolate covered strawberries, and a chocolate cake in the center with Smitha's card propped up against it. Given our talk about the room service issues, at the time I wasn't sure if this was their attempt to apologize or what. Thanks to our included internet I posted on Facebook about the unique treats and got back several replies saying that this is the sort of presentation they always put in your cabin on Labadee day.
That cake was chocolate with a chocolate lava cake fudgy center
Noticed a new message on the interactive TV system in our cabin. Thankfully we don't normally buy cruise photos so it didn't affect us but I heard that it was chaos at the photo center with many cruisers coming home empty handed due to their pictures being lost.

We left the food alone until we were freshly showered and dressed (got more sand left in the tub from washing out my water shoes than I did washing my entire body) and right when we were about to sit down and try our new treats, the regular afternoon room service delivery shows up. The poor young lady making the delivery didn't know what to do when she walked in with her tray of food and found that our small table was already full of food. I'm pretty sure if her head could spin around 360 degrees, it would have as she looked around trying to figure out what to do. I was tempted to suggest placing it on the floor so we could graze picnic style but practicality won out and Dad cleared space on our coffee table for her to set down the tray. This time, we got another fruit plate (I was beginning to see fruit plates in my nightmares), some brownies, a couple scones, and finally the new stuff we'd requested.

Our time in the sun was getting to Dad so he headed into his bedroom to take a nap. I am constantly organizing and straightening our cabins while on cruises so with two room service deliveries taking up space, I used the quiet time to move all the food we liked over to the counter behind our table and pile the stuff we didn't want on the tray for easy removal. As I puttered around, Ann Marie came by with our latest laundry delivery. We finally had a moment where we were in the cabin when the bar cart came around but given our extra snacks this afternoon, neither of us were in the mood for a drink. Soon my energy ran out and I headed in for a rest as well.

We had purposely arranged for no dinner reservations for tonight pre-cruise knowing that the beach would wear us out. This is also why we changed our original plans of attending "Come Fly with Me" tonight as our pre-cruise reserved show during the cruise. My rest didn't last very long though because my stomach was craving real food 30 minutes after I'd gone to lay down. After a 20 minute discussion between us (trust me, you'd be dying of starvation in the time it takes us to decide on a pizza delivery order at home), we settled on ordering pepperoni pizza, cheese quesadillas, and steak sandwiches with fries. In our paperwork from Smitha the first day, it gave 2 specific numbers to call for suite room service. First number put us immediately on hold. Second number connected right away and it took Dad several minutes of repeating confirmations that he wanted only cheese in the quesadilla before completing the order. Our order was placed at 6:50PM and arrived in our cabin by 7:15PM. Definitely impressed as our first RCL cruise took almost 2 hours to bring our dinner order. Can't say for sure whether it was rushed because of the suite or they were just not busy but it was still great timing.

While waiting for the delivery, I busied myself with a favorite cruising past time - sunrise and sunset pictures:

Given that our dining table was now full of our unwanted snack deliveries, we asked to have tonight's dinner out on the balcony table. The weather was temperate with a slight wind. Our overhang from the balcony above us provided a great shield from the wind as we ate. I'm guessing that it's more of a specialty dining genie arranged thing for you to get the whole tablecloth set up. Our room service waiter simply dumped the tray and pizza boxes out on our balcony table. No big deal - food tastes the same whether you're eating on paper plates or fine china. Dad asked the waiter to take away the tray of unwanted snack deliveries and it seemed to confuse the waiter to be asked to take away a tray of untouched food. He offered to stop all future deliveries but we said we wanted to still get some snacks for the cabin.

We didn't bother ordering any drinks and instead pulled from the mini bar stash. As we pulled off all the dish covers, we discovered the result of the cheese confusion. Everything except for the steak sandwiches they brought us was "only cheese" flavored. I think if they could have found a way to make the steak sandwiches be only cheese they would have done that too. We counted our blessings that none of us are lactose intolerant and dug in. Steak sandwiches were great, quesadilla was on par if not better than Sabor, and the cheese pizza was decent. The guacamole that came with the quesadilla was obviously different than what we had at Sabor but still tasty. We ate until we were stuffed.

Dad liked the comfortable weather on our balcony so much he brought his book over to the lounger and settled in for the evening. That respite didn't last too long though as the nightly movie being shown on the Aqua Theater screens started blaring 10 minutes later. I usually am bothered by being in a loud crowd or blasting music but I'm pretty sure wherever the Carnival Sunshine headed to after our first day's spotting could have heard the sound from our movie tonight. We moved back inside the cabin to relax.

We had mentioned to Ann Marie in passing earlier in the day that we planned to stay in tonight so she didn't need to do an evening turndown. Just as we were about to get ready for bed, she rang our bell to ask if we were going out tonight. We repeated that we had planned to stay in but Ann Marie insisted on coming in to give us our Compass and empty the trash cans. While she was busy doing that, our evening room service snack delivery arrived. Dad was glad to finally have the chance to eat his ice cream sundae before it turned to goop. On the plus side, they finally bothered to bring glasses to go with our milk cartons tonight. Once they both left, we went to put the DND sign on our door only to find that Smitha had visited during all that and left her card in our door. She might as well have just come on in and joined the party. After all we had plenty of snacks and clean trash cans!

Smitha had called the cabin earlier in the evening to confirm that we didn't change our mind and need new dinner or show reservations for tonight so it was probably just a visit to check in. I was hoping it was to bring me my missing platinum pin but there was no Loop message of explanation.

I fell asleep quickly and was so out of it, I didn't notice when Dad left the cabin to attend Quest. We'd attended Quest for the first time on the Grandeur but this was on a much larger scale due to the size of the passenger total. Dad found it hilarious and reported that there was quite the fair share of passengers who'd started the party well earlier (a.k.a. drunk already) including a team captain who lifted up her shirt and proceeded to run around flashing everyone. Another woman was more bothered by the other passengers' appreciative reactions than the act itself and yelled out "Oh come on, we've all seen boobs before!"
