We made it back to our cabin minutes before the 9:15PM delivery of fresh sushi rolls from Izumi arrived. Loved that they included a little travel size bottle of soy sauce with the delivery. And yes, the few pieces of each sushi type I tried was eaten with chopsticks. Well all but one because it fell off the chopsticks into my little bowl of soy sauce and I had to "fish him out."
As Dad wasn't about to try any of my requested sushi, he was looking forward to our 9:30PM standing order of snacks from room service. He hung back inside the cabin in hopes of hearing our doorbell so he could tip the delivery person. 9:30PM comes and goes and no delivery. By 10PM, he gave up waiting and came out to join me on the balcony to watch the Oasis of Dreams Aqua Theater show. I felt bad that he was hanging back waiting when it was his desire to book this kind of cabin for the view of the aqua theater show in the first place.
These suites are aptly named as they provided not only a great view of the whole theater setup but I also got to see the performers stretch, run through their moves, and get hooked up to the harnesses over by the rock wall.
For those in Star Class that don't have these aft suites, your genie will reserve those lawn chair style seats. I also saw one such Star Class suite that opted for the wooden benches with no individual seats in the "splash zone" so their genie just put printed out signs on the bench for them. They have no qualms about taking pictures or video during the show with the exception of using any flash photography for the safety of the performers.
At one point of the show when they were setting up a ladder to climb on, you could see that someone offstage called for the performer to stop trying to climb up. Soon a voice came on the microphone and announced that they were having technical difficulties and would resume the show soon. They resumed minutes later after members of the technical crew worked on the ladder. Our new trivia friend Karen told us later that when it was her turn later in the week to see the show, they also had a momentary stop in the show at the ladder scene and in fact one of the pieces broke and came up to hit a performer.
The show itself weaves a little bit of storyline with a lot of acrobatics, play fighting, high diving and synchronized swimming all done with a bit of whimsy and fantasy.
A favorite shot of mine because our aerial view enabled us to see the scuba diver pushing the umbrella from underneath the water level:
The final bow
I like that they even gave a moment for the scuba divers to rise out of the water and take a bow too
This was a brand new cast that came on board with our sailing so they practiced several times on the stage during the day. I also saw them rehearsing a more comical show with blown up inner tubes near the end of the cruise but after talking to one of the cruise entertainment staff, I learned that that particular show wasn't to be performed on our sailing since the cast was so new.
Near the end of the show, I had climbed up on one of the bar chairs so that I could sit and still take pictures above the railing bar. So who decides to finally show up while I'm stuck in this high chair? Our room service order that was supposed to have arrived at 9:30PM. Yes, they will leave any room service order in your room whether you're there or not as long as you don't have the Do Not Disturb sign out. Then they call the cabin and ask if they can still deliver it. I tried to slide down off the chair to get my feet back to the floor and instead the whole chair tipped forward sending my belly into the railing. Is it wrong that I cared more about the camera I was currently holding inches above my waist was still okay? Thankfully the camera was fine and though my abs were sore for the next day or two, I managed not to get any bruising for a change.
Dad still tipped the room service delivery guy and asked about the delay. The guy blamed it on not having popcorn available and was going to head back out and get it now to finish our order. We told him not to bother as we didn't want to wait on him to come back. We found out later that in fact the delay was because they'd delivered our order to our neighbors across the way by mistake. They called Smitha asking why they'd been sent items they never wanted or requested and offered to send it back when she explained the mix-up. Smitha told them to keep it and told room service to make another batch of snacks to send to us.
Ann Marie had thankfully already cleaned our cabin for tonight before we made it back from dinner. While we were away it seems our Mr. Stingray invited a friend back to our cabin to watch TV.
